CV Formatting for Finance Recruitment and Accounting Roles
How finance and accounting recruiters use CVPitch to format CVs with exact qualifications, discreet contact removal and evidence-backed pitches.
CV formatting for finance recruitment is held to an accountant's standard. Finance hiring managers read CVs the way they read accounts: line by line, looking for anything that does not reconcile. A part-qualified candidate presented as qualified, a promotion date that does not match LinkedIn, or a "managed a team" claim that turns out to mean one direct report will damage your credibility with the client and the candidate.
CVPitch helps finance and accounting recruiters format CVs into each client's preferred layout while keeping every fact traceable to the candidate's own words.
The details finance clients scrutinise
- Qualification status. Fully qualified, part-qualified, exam-qualified awaiting membership, or studying. The precise wording matters.
- Titles and reporting lines. Financial Controller, Head of FP&A and Finance Business Partner mean different things at different firms.
- Systems. ERP and consolidation tools, reporting packages and Excel depth.
- Dates. Year-ends, audit cycles, interim contracts and promotions within the same employer.
- Discretion. Many candidates are employed and do not want their current employer to learn they are looking.
How CVPitch handles a finance submission
- Upload the CV, or several at once with bulk upload. Word and text PDFs work best; a scan or photo is read by OCR at 1 AI credit per page, and you can also forward CVs by email or import them from a connected ATS.
- Check each fact against the source. Every employer, title, date, qualification and system links to the exact passage. Facts without support are marked unverified, and ambiguous dates are flagged.
- Correct and annotate. Fix anything the extraction got wrong; corrections are labelled as recruiter corrections. Add recruiter fields such as salary expectation or notice period, which are labelled recruiter-added.
- Remove contact details. Strip email, phone, address and links from the generated DOCX, PDF and hidden metadata, or replace the name with a candidate reference.
- Approve the exact revision and export an editable Word file with a matching PDF.
Extraction never rewrites, so it does not invent employers, dates, skills or metrics. If the candidate wrote "ACCA (8 of 13 exams passed)", that is the fact you review, with its source beside it. The optional AI writing tools leave qualifications, titles and dates alone, their checks drop suggestions containing new figures, and every change they suggest is a proposal you accept or reject.
Client formats for banks, practices and corporates
Different clients want different things. A practice might want qualifications first; a bank may insist on a candidate reference instead of a name and a two-page limit. Set up a client variant for each: one of five layouts, agency branding and logo, accent colour, section order, headings, required sections, page limit, privacy preset, filename pattern and optional coversheet. If a client insists on its own Word template, add placeholder tags to it and upload it. Variants are versioned, so a change to a client's format does not silently alter CVs you approved earlier.
When the same candidate goes to two clients, reuse the reviewed CV in the second client's variant rather than starting again. See our agency CV template guide.
Show the evidence in your pitch
Paste the job specification and CVPitch marks each requirement as evidenced, partly evidenced or not shown, with the supporting passage. For a Financial Controller brief, you might see month-end close and statutory accounts evidenced, group consolidation partly evidenced, and a specific ERP not shown. The matching is deterministic, so nothing is guessed.
CVPitch then drafts an editable pitch email citing the evidence and lists gaps to confirm before you put the candidate forward. It is far easier to defend a submission when every claim in your email points to the CV. See how to pitch a candidate to a client.
Keep candidates' searches confidential
Finance candidates are often currently employed, sometimes at your client's competitors. CVPitch helps in three ways:
- Contact details are removed from the documents and their hidden metadata when you choose, and the original CV stays separate.
- Current and past employers can be masked with descriptors such as "Big Four accountancy firm", and date of birth, nationality and visa lines removed.
- Share links expire, can be revoked at any time, and are not indexed by search engines.
- Candidate text never goes to analytics, and Slack or Teams notifications carry metadata only.
Remember that contact removal is not anonymisation: a distinctive career can still identify someone. Read our guide to blind CVs.
Track client responses
Send an approved CV through a tracked share link and see when it is opened and downloaded. The hiring manager can choose Request interview, Maybe or Not a fit with a comment, which saves a round of chasing emails. Approved files can be attached to the candidate's record in a connected ATS or CRM, such as Greenhouse, Lever or Recruit CRM, and webhooks can push events into other systems through Zapier, Make or n8n; see integrations.
A practical checklist for finance desks
Before a finance CV goes to a client, check these against the source passages CVPitch shows you:
- Qualification status exactly as written, including exam counts and "awaiting membership".
- Each title and its dates, especially internal promotions and interim assignments.
- Team size and scope claims, which should come from the CV, not from your notes.
- Systems, so the client sees the ones the candidate has actually used.
- Contact removal, including links and anything in the header or footer, then a look at the draft PDF.
- Recruiter fields such as salary expectation and notice period, labelled as yours.
- Gaps from the job match, confirmed with the candidate before the pitch email goes.
CVPitch's review flags and client rules handle several of these automatically, but a recruiter still approves the final version. That approval is what the client is relying on.
What CVPitch leaves to you
CVPitch does not verify professional body membership, check references or confirm employment history with employers. It does not produce fit scores or invent figures for a candidate's achievements; where a result is not measured, its measurable-outcome tool suggests questions to ask the candidate instead. It formats, evidences and helps you check, quickly.

Frequently asked questions
Will CVPitch change "part-qualified" to "qualified"?
No. CVPitch extracts the wording from the CV and links it to the source passage so you can confirm it. It does not upgrade or rephrase qualifications.
Can we include salary and notice period?
Yes, as recruiter-added fields. They are labelled as coming from the recruiter, and a client rule can make them mandatory before approval.
Can each client have a different layout?
Yes. Create a client variant per client with its own layout, font, branding, section order, headings, page limit and privacy preset, or use the client's own Word template with placeholder tags. Every plan includes this; see the features overview.
Is there a charge per recruiter?
No. Every plan includes unlimited users. Starter is $19 a month for 50 exports; see pricing or start free.
