Built to be honest about what a free tool can do
Free recruiter tools are often lead magnets first and tools second: a percentage that jumps when you delete a full stop, an anonymiser that misses the candidate’s name, or a savings calculator that never subtracts the price of the software. We tested a set of free recruiter tools and built these to avoid the failures we found. Each tool states what it checks, shows the evidence behind every result and says plainly what it cannot do.
- Evidence over scores. The keyword checker shows the CV sentence behind every match and reports “no Python experience” as a negative mention, not a match. There is no suitability percentage.
- Review before redaction. The CV anonymiser and personal data checker highlight every detection and let you switch each one off. Section headings are never redacted.
- Sources on the page. The bias language checker uses our own word lists, grouped by categories from published research and regulator guidance, and cites them.
- Net, not gross. The time savings calculator subtracts the tool’s price and shows the breakeven volume; the formatting cost calculator includes the review time a tool still needs.
- Structure, not guesses. The ATS readiness checker reports how a file is built and shows the order a parser reads it, without claiming to simulate any particular applicant tracking system.
Privacy first
Recruiters handle other people’s personal data all day, so these tools are designed to keep it. Text you paste is analysed by code running in your browser and is never uploaded. A PDF or Word file you choose is sent once to our file reader, without cookies, processed in memory and discarded: nothing is written to storage or logs. Pages count only that a tool was used, never what was in it. If your organisation does not allow candidate data in web tools, every tool has a synthetic example to try instead.
Where the tools fit in a submission
A typical workflow: check the job advert for wording that narrows your pool, compare shortlisted CVs against the requirements, check the CV file is readable, then remove the personal details your client should not see. The tools cover each check on its own. CVPitch covers the whole submission: it reformats the CV into your agency’s branded template, keeps every extracted fact beside its source passage, removes the contact details you choose from the Word file, PDF and metadata, and exports an approved DOCX and matching PDF. See pricing or start with 10 free CVs.
