CV fields and languages: exactly what CVPitch extracts
The CV fields and languages CVPitch supports: every extracted field, its evidence rules and limits, and which languages are evaluated or only processed.
This page lists the CV fields and languages CVPitch supports, and only those. Some CV parsers advertise hundreds of fields and dozens of languages; we would rather tell you precisely which fields a submission carries, what evidence each one needs, and which languages we have actually evaluated, so you can judge the fit for your own candidates.
How fields and languages are checked
Each value CVPitch extracts is a fact with four properties:
- Value: the text that appears in the submission.
- Evidence: one or more quotes from the source CV, each tied to a source block and character positions. The quote must match the source exactly.
- Verification: verified word for word, needs review, unsupported, or missing.
- Origin: extracted, recruiter-corrected, recruiter-added or AI-assisted, so nobody mistakes a note for the candidate's words.
Dates keep the precision the CV gives. A year stays a year, and a missing end date stays missing or is flagged, never turned into "Present" by guesswork.
Fields extracted from the CV
| Section | Fields | Limit per CV |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Name, headline | One each |
| Contact | Email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, links | 20 of each |
| Summary | Profile or summary text | One |
| Experience | Employer, job title, location, start date, end date, current-role flag, description bullets | 60 roles, 100 bullets per role |
| Education | Institution, qualification, subject, start date, end date, notes | 40 entries |
| Certifications | Name, issuer, date, credential reference | 100 |
| Skills | Skill, with an optional category | 300 |
| Other sections | Section heading and its items, such as languages spoken, publications, volunteering, interests or references | 30 sections, 100 items each |
Anything the CV contains that does not fit these fields can be kept under other sections with its own heading. The source coverage view shows CV text that has not been carried into the submission, and a recruiter can record why something was left out.
In Format only — no AI mode, CVPitch fills the name and contact fields by pattern and lays out the rest of the CV as headed sections whose items are literal lines of the source, verified word for word.
Fields recruiters add
These are not taken from the CV. They are entered by a recruiter, confirmed by the candidate through a confirmation link, or imported from an interview transcript, and are labelled with that origin:
- Candidate reference used in place of the name on anonymised CVs.
- Recruiter fields defined per client template, up to 20, such as rate, availability, notice period or right-to-represent date.
- Recruiter notes, kept separate from CV facts.
- Job requirements with their evidence, from job match.
- Submission email subject, recipient and body for the export pack.
Review flags
Extraction and checks raise review issues with a severity (critical, major or minor) and the field they concern. Examples include ambiguous dates, missing required sections, text recognised from a scan, hidden text removed at upload and client rules not met. Critical issues must be resolved before approval, and major and minor ones are listed for the recruiter to check.
Languages
We separate what we have evaluated from what the system will process.
| Area | Evaluated | Processed but not evaluated |
|---|---|---|
| Extraction of facts | English-language CVs, on our synthetic test corpus | CVs in other languages: the model will read them and the same evidence checks apply, but we have not measured quality |
| Text recognition (OCR) | Not separately evaluated: every transcription is flagged for a recruiter to check against the image | Scans and photos in any language |
| Personal-detail removal (date of birth, nationality, gender and similar lines) | English labels and phrasing | Other languages: lines may not be detected, so check them by hand |
| Output rendering | Right-to-left layout and Arabic script are covered by our rendering tests | Other scripts render with the bundled fonts but are not covered by tests |
| AI translation (as proposals) | Not evaluated for quality | French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Romanian, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified) and Japanese |
The evidence rule holds in every language: a value must match a quote from the source exactly, so a misread is shown as unverified rather than silently accepted. Even so, for languages we have not evaluated, plan for closer review.
File types and size
PDF and Word (DOCX and DOC), RTF, ODT and TXT files, and PNG, JPEG, WebP or TIFF images, recognised by content. Files can be up to 10 MiB, PDFs up to 20 pages, and extracted text up to 120,000 characters. Headers, footers and tables are read as source text. Details are on the developers page.
Using fields through the API
Integrations read approved values with evidence through the REST API, and can request their own field layout with the schema extraction endpoint: post a JSON Schema and receive values for a submission, with any string not found word for word in the source listed for review. See the developer docs and AI transparency.
Frequently asked questions
Which languages does CVPitch support?
Extraction has been evaluated on English-language CVs. CVs in other languages are processed with the same evidence checks, but we have not measured their quality, so review them more closely. Output can be laid out right to left, and AI translation proposals are available into 13 other languages.
Does CVPitch extract salary or notice period?
Not from the CV as dedicated fields. Add them as recruiter fields in your client template; they are labelled as recruiter-added and never mixed with extracted facts.
What happens to CV content that does not fit a field?
It can be kept under other sections with its own heading, and the source coverage view shows anything not carried over, so nothing is dropped without a recruiter seeing it.
